Men’s Issues

Get ‘droided for battle!

WCCO | CBS Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Let the robot games begin at the University of Minnesota.

Thousands of high school students are expected to pack the university’s Williams and Mariucci arenas for the Minnesota Regional FIRST Robotics Competitions Friday and Saturday.

More than 120 high school teams from Minnesota and surrounding states will compete. Teams build and program robots to perform tasks against a field of competitors.

This year’s game is called “Ultimate Ascent” and is like a game of robotic Ultimate Frisbee. The robots score as many goals as possible with standard flying discs and then climb up pyramids.

The University of Minnesota College of Science and Engineering is one of the sponsors. The event is free and open to the public.
